At the 22nd Congress of the Croatian Ophthalmological and Optometric Society, Dr. Kristina Lončarić presented results from a randomized study comparing the prescription accuracy and efficiency of anti-glaucoma medications using the “Terapija/Therapy” tool versus current clinical practices.

The study involved 58 ophthalmologists from across Croatia, including 43 specialists and 15 residents, randomly assigned to two groups with comparable clinical experience in glaucoma patient care.
Both groups completed an online form featuring 10 patient case descriptions. They could use any resources typically available in their practice (books, internet, etc.) when selecting therapies. However, Group 1 was required to use the “Terapija/Therapy” tool on Glaukom.hr, while Group 2 was not permitted to use it.
The accuracy of drug selection was analyzed in accordance with the guidelines of the European Glaucoma Society, as well as time efficiency, i.e. the time required to resolve all cases.
Regarding accuracy, group 1 (using the tool) had a median drug selection accuracy of 90%, while group 2 had a median drug selection accuracy of only 50%. In the subgroup of ophthalmologist specialists, the results were the same, and similar in the subgroup of ophthalmologist residents. The results are not only in magnitude, but also statistically significant.
Regarding time efficiency, group 1 was faster by about 2 minutes, i.e. 12.21% compared to the group that did not use the tool, which was especially pronounced in the subgroup of residents who were faster by about 9 minutes when using the online tool Terapija/Therapy.
From the results, it can be concluded that the online tool Terapija/Therapy on Glaukom.hr helps in the optimal and efficient care of patients with glaucoma.
Also, ophthalmologists who used the tool have responded with positive experiences, satisfaction, and praise and support for the Glaukom.hr website.
The creators of Glaukom.hr have thus received scientific confirmation that their idea, initiative, and effort in creating this project have great significance in the fight against the silent thief of sight.
Our goal is to bring this tool to as many countries as possible, for the benefit of both patients and medical professionals.
